When I moved from Chicago to Richmond, VA I never thought I would see the snow I did living in the north. Well, we don’t see the amounts but our schools will close before a single flake hits the ground. To top that, if we do get more than an inch there is a great possibility to be out of school for several days. For the days that it is actually snowing, I don’t drive, not because I don’t think I can handle the snow, I know that the other drivers have no experience. This past weekend we were hit with one of the largest snow falls I have seen in the past 16 years living here. We have a french foreign exchange student here as well so we needed to get creative on our snow day. We made fun snowman or Olaf cupcakes with her. Since you need to mix things up during your snow days, we are sharing some fun snow day craft ideas too.
To make our fun inspired snowman inspired cupcakes, start with your favorite cupcake recipe or box. You will need an assortment of sprinkles, mini marshmallows, M&M candy, mini chocolate chips and frosting.
Dip the top of your cupcake in sprinkles for the hat.
Add half marshmallows for the hat and a full size for the top of the hat.
Chocolate chips for the eyes and mini for the mouth.
An orange M&M works great for the carrot nose.
The girls also made some Frozen inspired cupcakes using blue frosting!
Here are some fun Snow Day crafts to do with the kids.
