Not all sandwiches are for lunch. In fact, we have created a substantial sandwich that is great for a hearty breakfast. Mixing classic ham and cheese with a French toast panini is just what the kids will be craving before school or on a lazy Saturday morning, assuming you have lazy weekend mornings!! This sandwich recipe was inspired at my recent trip to Walmart, where I found some great prices on some of my favorite sandwich ingredients.

Ham & Cheese French Toast Panini Recipe

A good sandwich starts with good bread. My family really likes  Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse™ Hearty White for their panini sandwiches. It is thick enough to hold up to the grill but not too thick that the cheese doesn’t melt. Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse breads are hearty, generous breads. The next best thing to homemade bread. The bread is slowly baked with wholesome flavorful ingredients for a fresh from the oven taste.

Speaking of melting, we filled the bread with Hillshire Farm® Thin Sliced Honey Ham, which contains no artificial flavors and no by-products. The slices are nice and thin perfect for a panini.

No sandwich is complete without Hellmann’s® Real Mayonnaise made with real, simple ingredients: eggs, oil and vinegar. Hellmann’s® Real products are made with cage-free eggs too. To top off the creaminess of this sandwich, we added white Vermont cheddar but your favorite cheese will work.

Since this is a breakfast sandwich, we made our mayonnaise a little sweet by adding a tablespoon of maple syrup. We also added a little maple syrup to our egg and water mixture.

While you are making the sandwiches, preheat your panini grill or fry pan.
