When taking food photography; consider your lighting. This can be challenging if you are going to dinner or it’s winter and you want to photograph your dinner. Good Lighting is essential, and natural lighting is obviously preferred. Move your dish to a window at home or consider going to lunch if you need to post about a restaurant. Never use your flash, it you can help it!

  3. I find ugly food photos puzzling because there are so many ways to pretty up food; lighting, plating, placement, focus and more. I agree with you that folks can really do more to make a food item sing.
