Kids make several Thanksgiving crafts in preschool and elementary school but this Turkey Hand Banner is going to be a long lasting thanksgiving craft for kids.

With all the holiday decor that is around it is hard to get the kids refocused on Thanksgiving and remembering to give thanks. I thought I would share a fun and easy craft you can make with your kids to decorate your home or to give as gifts.

Make one for each or your children or make a large banner with all of your kids and send it off to their grandparents.

EASY THANKSGIVING CRAFTS TO DO WITH KIDS

This craft is inexpensive if you already have the acrylic paints in fall colors at your home. If not you can usually find them pretty inexpensively at the craft stores.

Since you only need a little bit of fabric for each banner, check out the remanent section at your fabric store or even some Wal-Marts have started carrying fabric.

What you need for this Long Lasting Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids:

1. A piece of thanksgiving themed fabric 10 inches x 12 inches. (vary the size by the number of turkeys you will be adding)
2. A 9×9 piece of brown burlap fringing the ends slightly
3. 12 inch wooden dowel
4. acrylic paints brown, yellow, green, red, orange
5. permanent pens  such as Sharpies in black
6. 1/4 inch ribbon 1 yard  (my example used 3 colors for the hanger)

Start by painting your child’s hands to resemble the turkey. Brown palm, colored fingers

Make a hand print on the burlap and allow to dry. ( I recommend this before gluing burlap on fabric in case you have to redo the turkey)

Meanwhile attach the themed fabric onto the wooden down, overlapping by 2 inches. You can use fabric or hot glue.

Attach the ribbon holders

Once the turkey hand print is dry, add the Turkey’s Legs and eyes using the black Sharpie and then glue it onto the banner.

You can add adornments such as themed buttons or foam pieces. This Thanksgiving craft  for kids is one that will be cherished for years, I know ours had and it is time to make on for the other kids.
