With a heat index of 110 there is not much you can do. I was excited to receive a Kelly Kit in the mail. July’s kit is a printmaking activity called Sponge and Stamp.
What is a Kelly kit you must be wondering?
Kelly Kits is an all inclusive art play curriculum for children 2-102. Every art play activity focuses on a simple art techniques in painting, sculpting, drawing, print-making, and collage. I have also included enrichment ideas that add an educational layer to the art play experience making it especially engaging for older children. So what is a Kelly Kit subscription? It features one kit a month with access to contests, our online community and instructional videos for only $9.99 – shipping and handling included!!!
So what did we think, I had my 2 boys work together with me, ages 6 and 8. It took about 15 minutes to complete our project. They especially loved the cellulose papers that turned into sponges. I know if my daughter was involved she might has spent more time. The scissors provided, while adorable in size, were not easy for them to use. I ended up cutting them with my adult scissors.
Here are a few pictures of my kids at work and the outcomes.

I think this is great for the younger crowd. However, I am happy to inform you that they are making some changes in September to their kits to make it more appealing to the older kid crowd:
“I’m also excited to share a change that is coming this September. The look of our packages will change just slightly accommodating more materials and we will include two masterpiece challenges aimed at older kids 6-12. This will increase Kelly Kits versatility! While we are excited to feature these fun and inspiring ideas, we also want to emphasize that kids need only to follow the rules (your rules, Mom, for creating art at home!) not the directions! If your children feel inspired to use the materials differently than what is suggested – we encourage it! We want a generation of creative minds – not just direction followers!!!!! “
I am participating in the Keeping Kids Creative Giveaway in September and one lucky reader will win a full year subscription so be sure and keep your eyes open for that event.
Can’t wait until September to try to win the 1 year subscription, Kelly Kits will giveaway an additional annual membership to one of my readers from their Facebook page. To sweeten the deal, every reader that enters will also be given a code to receive a FREE Kelly Kit a $9.99 value (there is a one-time $2.49 shipping fee). Check it out now!
Of course, readers have no obligation to get the kit it is completely up to them if they want to take advantage of the FREE kit offer, it’s just Kelly Kits way of thanking you all for entering the contest!
