The holiday season is upon us, and many of us will indulge in a few extra glasses of wine. So what to do with the wine corks we have collected? I really don’t need a specific reason to enjoy a glass of wine, but the thought of turning my corks into a donation makes me want to pour another glass. Help stop hunger through the Gallo Family’s initiative Every Cork Counts Program. I take this as a public service message to drink wine for a good cause.
With wine being such a big part of holiday entertaining, Gallo Family Vineyards offers an easy way to give back to the community by helping Meals On Wheels Association of America with its goal to end senior hunger. For the 4th year in a row, the Gallo Family Vineyards® Every Cork Counts™ campaign makes giving back as easy as uncorking a bottle of one of its 16 great-tasting, affordable wines.
For every Gallo Family Vineyards cork collected through December 31, 2013, Gallo Family Vineyards will donate $5 to Meals On Wheels with a maximum donation of $100,000. Additionally, fans o
f the winery can raise another $10,000 with a fun online game at www.EveryCorkCounts.com. With an army of nearly two million volunteers who work in their Senior Nutrition Programs, the organization is able to deliver one million meals a day to help combat the more than 8.8 million seniors who face the threat of hunger.
Over the past three years, Gallo Family Vineyards has collected thousands of corks and donated more than $225,000 to support the needs of seniors in communities across the country.
+++Corks should be mailed to Every Cork Counts, P.O. Box 3017, Grand Rapids, MN 55745-3017. All corks must be postmarked between August 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013, and received by January 15, 2014.
So when you are selected wine this season, think of the selection offered from Gallo Brands.
