What you need to make easy Refrigerator Dill Pickles
You most likely have everything you need for this homemade dill pickle recipe that you make in the refrigerator. Pickling spices are optional but we love the additional flavor.
Really any great dill pickle recipe has two essential ingredients: fresh dill and garlic cloves.
- 3 ½ cups water
- 1 ¼ cups white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 4 cups cucumber spears
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled, whole
- 2 heads fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon Pickling Spices or your own spice choices
- 2 large mouth glass or plastic containers (Quart size)
How to Make Refrigerator Dill Pickle Recipe
Stir water, vinegar, sugar, pickling spices and sea salt together in a saucepan over high heat; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and cool completely.
Combine cucumber spears, garlic cloves, and fresh dill in a large glass or plastic lidded container.
Pour cooled vinegar mixture over cucumbers, garlic, and dill.
Seal container with lid and refrigerate for at least 3 days.
How long will this Refrigerator Pickles Last?
Refrigerator pickles don’t last as long as their canned counterparts. Stored in a tightly sealed container in the fridge, they should stay good for about one month.
What types of cucumbers are good for Pickles?
Opt for cucumbers that are small and bumpy instead of large and waxy. Look for cucumbers that labeled “Kirby” or “pickling cucumber.” Of course right out of your garden are the best!
Can I reuse the brine?
Believe it or not, you can reuse the brine as long as you are not using your hands to get the pickles out. This helps keeping any bacteria from your hands out of the jar. Use the brine over and over again.
Easy Refrigerator Dill Pickles Recipe
These refrigerator dill pickles taste so fresh and are seasoned with just the right amount of dill and garlic. Ready in 3 days
Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups water
- 1 ¼ cups white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 4 cups cucumber spears
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled, whole
- 2 heads fresh dill
- 1 tablespoon Pickling Spices or your own spice choices
- 2 large mouth glass or plastic containers (Quart size)
Instructions
- Cut Cucumbers in desired shape
- Make the brine of water, vinegar, Salt sugar and pickling spices. Bring these ingredients into a boil and allow to cool completely
- Add cucumbers, garlic and dill into 2 large mouth quart jars/containers
- Pour cooled brine over the cucumbers
- Seal and put in fridge for 3 days.
Notes
They will store in the fridge for a month.
