Earn Screen Time with Chores Printable

Summertime is upon us and if your kids are like mine, they would be happy to be on their devices or in front of the TV all day. This will not bode well for any of us. I must admit I would like some quiet time to do some work over the summer and having a little screen time would help with this. However, I want the kids to feel like it is a privilege not just an activity they can pick up at leisure. This summer I created a chore printable that the kids can use to trade for screen time. You can create any reward but in our house this might be the most successful.

We have daily chores the kids are asked to help with, but I have included a few extras to help me this summer too. I know this will hopefully be a win win situation if they do the chores correctly. I am preparing for summer chores as I head to Costco  to get all my P&G Household Needs.  We are stocking up on Bounty Advanced, Cascade Complete Action Pacs, and Swiffer Dusters Refills. The chores are not hard but having the right cleaning supplies will make them even easier. Thanks to Costco we have supplies for the entire summer.

One of the chores on the list is to load the dishwasher. I think we all know kids won’t take the time to rinse the dishes properly. With Cascade Complete ActionPacs* this should not be a problem. The pacs are easy to load that my kids ages 10-14 can easily put them in the dishwasher themselves and I can relax at the dinner table watching. (Pause for laughter). *disclaimer  keep out of reach of younger children.

With children running inside and out all day in the summer, dust is a big problem. Not to mention our fluffy golden retriever who carries enough junk inside and out. Kids can easily dust the house using Swiffer Dusters Refills,  They actually like seeing how much dirt and dust they collect
with the fluffy fibers that trap and lock 3X more dirt, hair and allergens than feather dusters. I also know they completed their job if I see the dirty refill!!

The kids already have to clear the table as part of their weekly chores. However, the table after a meal is filled with sticky spots. I am not quite sure how much food they get in their bodies vs the table. Armed with furniture cleaner and Bounty Advanced paper towels they can get the job done. I especially like the Bounty Advanced select a size as you can use them at meals as well without wasting as much.

Earn Screen time by doing chores

The kids can keep track by having you simply add a hole punch or initial the cards. You can decide what chores and rewards are worth as well as if you like the earn screen time reward.

How do you get kids to do their chores? Do you pay them or allow them to earn privileges?

  1. This Is A AWESOME Idea, I Have 3 Children & It’s Always A Losing Battle To Get The Kids To Finish Their Chores. I Will Be Printing These Out Maybe This Will Work Thank You!

  2. This is a great idea. It’s so important to give kids responsibilities early on.

  3. My kids are still too young really but I like the idea of earning privileges

  4. Great printable! Reminds me of how my parents made us do chores. I’m all about having kids take responsibility and have to earn time – wish more parents still did this!

  5. I love the concept of chore cards and punching their cards to receive rewards. It is a great visual for kids to have to see their progress and motivate them.

  6. Funny – I remember those days where I did chores for my allowance and would be deducted if there was an infraction! I don’t have children but watch my friends and family…they’re not anywhere near as strict as my Mom!!!!
