While I was shopping at Walmart for some ideas of what to buy for our first summer outdoor party, Pizza came to mine but our schedule was a little tight to make homemade crusts. I picked up a few DIGIORNO® pizzeria!™ Supreme Speciale Pizzas which makes it easy to feed a crowd and grilling them keeping it a BBQ theme! Imagine Grill meets Pizzeria.
With a thin crust that’s crispy outside, but soft and airy inside and a flavorful sauce made with vine-ripened tomatoes, DIGIORNO® pizzeria!™ pizza is a whole new pizza experience! And with premium toppings and no artificial flavors, you’ll only taste fresh ingredients. There are so many different options that you can buy a few different ones to keep smiles on all your guests.
Close to Home loves sharing desserts and this semi homemade Strawberry shortcake pie recipe is right up our alley. Since my kids always complain about the other their siblings getting a bigger slice, I decided to make individual pies this time. You definitely can make this into a large pie.
We purchased the Chocolate Malt EDY’S® Frozen Custard a few weeks ago and the kids went crazy so when I saw the strawberry shortcake and vanilla flavors this shopping trip my dessert was suddenly inspired. If you have never had custard before, I remember the roadside stands growing up in the midwest, Custard is essentially Ice Cream’s Creamier cousin. Custard is made with fresh milk and no artificial colors or flavors its extra thick and creamy surprise.
To make these simple strawberry shortcake pies, I used pre made graham cracker crusts. Add a layer of the strawberry shortcake custard. Freeze.
Allow the Vanilla EDY’S® Frozen Custard to sit out for about 5 minutes. Place a few scoops into a piping bag filled with a wide round tip. Massage the custard slightly to warm it up to a consistency to frost the pie.
Simply pipe the custard over the pies as you would with frosting. This can get messy but love the look. Top with a few sliced fresh strawberries. FREEZE.
Take the strawberry shortcake pies out about 5 minutes before you are ready to serve them. Enjoy.
What a perfect combo for a summer dinner with friends.
