With my birthday yesterday I found this week’s question for Life Well Lived Getting Happy to be quite appropriate:
How do you put yourself first? How does taking time for yourself help make you happier?
Although I have all three children at school most of the day, I still find it hard to do things for myself. Outside of running errands, getting chores done around the house and blogging responsibilities (which my husband has not accepted as time consuming), I go to the gym as much as I can. At times the classes I take make it feel like work, although I totally enjoy them and it is in a group class so I get time to socialize with those friends too.
If I do take this time to let out some steam and work out I am often grumpy during the day.
With my birthday falling on a weekend this year, I really did not get any time for myself with the kids commitments. I know my husband is tired too, so I often feel guilty asking for that time. Of course then I felt sorry for myself yesterday when the only time alone was taking the puppy for a walk! This is a tough question to answer and there is no real good answer, but I do feel not only do you need time for yourself but time alone with my husband is just as important!
