Given the opportunity to get away for a few days to celebrate our 15th anniversary while the kids were at sleep over camp, my husband and I chose to visit the Caribbean Island of Turks and Caicos. Noted for its gorgeous beaches and calm seas, our travel agent, helped us decide on Grace Bay Club. In our opinion and that of both repeat visitors and staff we have determined that the Grace Bay Club is one of the best resorts on Turks and Caicos. Plus using a travel agent gave us such perks as $100 Hotel credit, free champagne, possible room upgrade etc.

Romance and quaintness were our goal this trip, although we do like a little adventure or action at resorts we choose. Grace Bay Club seemed to offer it all but getting there would be the test. With many direct flights from major cities around the country, Turks and Caicos is really easy to get to,even from Richmond VA where there are very few places you can get to direct. We left on a 7am flight from Richmond and touched down in the Caribbean at 12:30 pm. Not bad.

Customs and Immigration took longer than expected and I think that was we were plane 3 of 3 that had just landed causing a large back up. No worries, the folks from Grace Bay Club have someone waiting for you on the other side, with cold waters, island info and no wait for your transport to the resort. We chose to take a shared taxi for 17.50 a person each way.

Best Hotel In Turks and Caicos for couples

Once we got to the front doors of the best hotel in Turks and Caicos we were greeted with a glass of cold rum punch and a warm towel to erase any travel stresses. We met with our personal concierge who took us on a brief tour of the resort and confirmed our reservations for our stay as well as was available to take any other requests we might have.

We had originally requested a room in the adult only hotel area, but found ourselves placed in a slightly larger room in the villa area. We did not see or hear any kids near or room until are final night but the rooms are large that you cannot hear a thing. I was also worried we were across from the elevators but nothing was heard all 4 days. In fact we did not hear room service and house keeping knock a few times as the rooms were so big.

The rooms were more spacious than my first condo including a full kitchen and washer and dryer, 2 bathrooms and views that take your breath away. Being on the fourth floor helped with the amazing view of the crystal blue waters of Turks and Caicos.

We immediately unpacked and hit the adult only side of the beach to find plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, as well as staff to take care of us. Paradise we have arrived.

Worried you might go hungry? Not a chance. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well a grocery store that you can fill up your fridge if you plan on being there a while and want to cook or make easy meals or snacks in your room. They also have complimentary bikes so you can explore the town.

 

A full American breakfast buffet included in our rate and check out the view from our breakfast table. We skipped lunch and we grabbed a few finger sandwiches at the complimentary tea at 3pm to get us to dinner. There is not reason you will go hungry or thirsty on property. Bottled waters are available everywhere which is great b/c when I travel we go thru a lot of water and this was one expense we did not have to endure or bother bringing home on a bike!

 

For our final night we ate on property at Anaconda, a beach front restaurant with first class service and food. How romantic is this view? A must to celebrate a special occasion or just take in the ocean breezes and wonderful fresh seafood.

Be sure and grab a drink at Grace Bay Club’s Infinity bar a great place to catch the sunset too.

WHAT TO BRING to Turks and Caicos : a few bathing suits, cover ups, sun hat, flip-flops, sunscreen and a nice sundress and flip-flops for dinners. That is it super relaxed and very casual.

Overall, we were sad to leave after only 3 nights. We relaxed, utilized the complimentary water sports and tennis courts, (if you are fussy about requests, bring your own they are a little old) met new people as well as ate and drank to our hearts content. This is a vacation we will repeat again and if the kids are lucky. we will bring them along as well.
