There is one thing all teen parents go through universally, dealing with our teens’ acne. No matter if you are dealing with a few blackheads or a complete face break out, your teen will drag you to the acne aisle of your store to stock up on every product available. If you have not had to shop for teen acne products recently, these are not cheap. Personally, I typically choose the generic version of beauty products for my teens but sometimes this means a trip back to the store. So how do you find out if generic teen acne products work just as well as their brand name counterparts, thus saving your money? Thanks to a new app Brandefy for sponsoring this post to share how to decide between generic and brand name products.
Do Generic Teen Acne Products Work — Compare with Brandefy
What is Brandefy?
Brandefy investigates which generic products offer high-quality results and when you’re better off splurging on the name brand. They started by comparing skincare brands like Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, and Aveeno to their generic brand copycats from stores like Target, Walmart, and CVS. As they grow, they’ll expand beyond the skin care aisle to the entire store.
Simply Download the Brandefy app, search for the product you are curious about and get the reviews from other consumers. It could not be simpler than this.
We thought we would give the app a try and purchased a few teen acne products in our favorite brand name and their Target counterparts.
As you can see the packaging on both the brand name and store brands are very similar so why would they not be just as good. The store brands even tell you what brand name product they are similar to.
Acne products can be tricky because everyone’s skin is so different but at least you can get some consumer feedback and make an educated decision. For example, these two products smelled the same, but the Neutrogena product had more exfoliating beads. However, my daughter refuses to use the Up and Up Brand of wipes. I have wasted more money trying to convince her otherwise.

Out of the four Neutrogena teen acne products we purchased, we will stick buying the brand name Grapefruit scrub and the wipes. My daughter flips out whenever I buy the generic one to save a few dollars… They simply don’t work on her skin.
So when you are headed to the store to pick up beauty products, be sure to first download Brandefy and pin this so you remember!
Oh this sound good! Will try it next! ? I am very biased towards Neutrogena hand cream. Have you tried that?
