Easy Breakfast Ideas for Teens & Tweens

Summertime is no different than the school year, at least while swim team is in season. Kids need to be at the pool by 8:30 am which means pulling kids out of bed and attempting to get them something nutritious in their bellies. Teens and tweens love to sleep in, especially on days that there is somewhere they need to be. Coming up with Easy Breakfast Ideas for Teens & Tweens can be challenging and sometimes you need to be creative and have a pantry stocked with some basic items that will get them excited about breakfast.

Have you heard of General Mills Tiny Toast cereals? I have not before either. I think had I just seen these on the grocery store shelves I would not have thought to pick one up. We have a traditional on birthdays, the kids are able to pick whatever cereal they want. I don’t limit them to low sugar varieties like I do the rest of the year. I don’t think these would qualify as high sugar cereals for birthdays, but a cereal we could have in our pantry on a regular basis.

  • Real strawberry or blueberry flavor in every piece
  • No artificial flavors, no colors from artificial sources, no high-fructose corn syrup
  • Great taste– Even my husband agreed they looked like little pieces of toast, and tasted good.
  • Only 9 grams of sugar

These were so good, someone did not even think they needed a bowl. I am a true believer that cereal makes a great snack right out of the box.

This is why I have decided to pack up some breakfast items for the kids to take along to swim practice. If they are not hungry in the car, this will keep until after practice. Pack up some boxed milk, a piece of fruit and a baggie of Tiny Toast cereal for a well rounded breakfast. Hey, you can even mix the two flavors.

Another great grab and go breakfast would be a container of low sugar yogurt, berries and some Tiny Toast. The kids can make a parfait. You get the fresh fruit and the crunch of the cereal. Yummy! Kids are not too old to enjoy these flavors.
