Headed to the nation’s capitol this holiday season, here is another amazing Holiday events in DC. If you think this polar vortex was cold, try plunging into a 9 degree Ice Tent. This year the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord National Harbor is featuring Frosty The Snowman. A few years ago we witnessed the Grinch ICE exhibit and this year proved no less spectacular. Pictures can not full describe the ICE experience. Spending a Holiday Weekend in DC is not complete without a trip to ICE. While the self paced ICE experience lasts about 30 minutes, you are surrounded by amazing colored ice sculptures. They are like nothing you see at a fancy brunch or wedding but bigger than life-size.
Each guest is given a meat packing jacket but don’t show up without gloves and a hat, you need it.
The highlight for the kids is the Slide made completely out of ice. This was the most crowded area but the wait for us was no more than 5 minutes.
Here are some other photos of the slide. You would be amazed when you get up close just how thick this ice is.
And one more: Yes this is all colored, sculpted ice.
This time when we were going thru the exhibit they had one of the Ice Sculptors actually working. This was amazing for the older kids and myself to witness.
It is recommend to pre-buy your tickets and if you are a Marriot Preferred member you get a discount. Check their website for details.

The Gaylord National also sells overnight packages that include unlimited visits to ICE. Don’t miss out on this Great Holiday Family Event. I love that it always ends with the Manger Scene to remind Christians really what Christmas is about.
Looks like a fun place! I love ice sculptures

Wow so cool, we take our kids to our local downtown area to see the ice sculptures every year in the winter time, it is fascinating to see what they can make out of a block of ice.

This is really amazing. A slide made of ice. I sure would love to go to the events at the Holiday Ice show. It looks like so much fun, and my family would love it. Maybe someday!
