How to Make Homemade Onion Rings in Air Fryer

Thanks to Frieling  for sending us an Air Fryer to share How to Make Homemade Onion Rings in Air Fryer.

We don’t eat a lot of fried foods in our home because of the added fats.  When the idea of an Air Fryer came into mind, I thought what a brilliant concept, but does it really work?

We all know there is nothing better than a good french fry right out of the oil, or even a fried donut hot out of the pan.  Since making these Homemade Onion rings, we have made frozen french fries, bacon and Fried Oreos in the Air Fryer and have not been disappointed.

Our Air Fryer is now a permanent fixture on our kitchen counter and I think I have purchased more frozen potato products recently than in a year.

Onion Rings are a fan favorite in our home so I thought I would try to make them from scratch.  Making them in the air fryer produces a  crispy coating without any heavy greasiness.

We have paired these homemade onion rings with a homemade comeback sauce for a tasty side dish or appetizer.

The only downside, is you have to make these in batches and keep them warm in the oven.  If you were frying them I guess you would have the same issue of doing them in batches unless you had a restaurant size deep fryer.

Dredge onion rings in flour mixture, shaking off excess. Dip in egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge in panko mixture, pressing to adhere. Coat both sides of onion rings well with cooking oil spray not nonstick spray.

“Fry” The Onion Rings

Place onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, and cook in batches at 375°F until golden brown and crispy on both sides, 10 minutes, turning onion rings over halfway through cooking. Cover to keep warm while cooking remaining onion rings.
