Take Your Kids to Monster Jam Thunder Alley at Kings Dominion

Written by Julie S. Thanks to Kings Dominion for the tickets to explore this new summer exhibit: Monster Jam Thunder Alley at Kings Dominion.
Three years ago, I couldn’t have told you the difference between an excavator and a backhoe loader.  Then I had a son!  Monster trucks were high on his list of vehicles to see.  Monster trucks, though, aren’t what you’ll see on the side of the road driving through town.

For a three-year-old, seeing one in-person would be epic.  So when we heard Kings Dominion was opening their new “Monster Jam Thunder Alley” experience from July 20th to September 2nd, we took the entire family over there (including his three sisters!).

What’s Included with Monster Jam

Park Admission

The best part is this experience is included with park admission so you can go enjoy all King’s Dominion has to offer after seeing Monster Jam (Soak City water slides or coasters sound good after?!?).

Special Exhibits
The girls – ages 6, 8 and 10 – immediately went to the Monster Jam Build-a-Truck station where they put their arts and crafts skills to work and built their own mini Monster Jam Truck called Grave Digger (their brother’s favorite Monster Truck toy).  They loved using the hammer and nails to construct the truck.

My three-year-old son beelined to the Monster Jam Pit Stop Play Area and loved the enormous sandpit filled with monster trucks where he could move them through a miniature version of the Monster Jam track.  This was definitely a hit with him!

Monster Truck Rides

The highlight of the exhibit for our entire family was riding on the Monster Jam Freestyle Ride Truck Experience.  We all climbed onto an all-new, 10-passenger Grave Digger Monster Jam truck (again, Grave Digger is my son’s favorite monster truck which made it that much cooler!).

Once strapped in, we were driven through the Monster Jam course and got to experience the obstacles.  It was SO neat and the girls loved it too.  Kids must be 36 inches tall to rideso be sure to check your toddler’s height so they aren’t disappointed.  We rode Grave Digger but they will also have Megladon running throughout the exhibit.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

If you have a child who loves monster trucks and wants to experience all that goes into its creation, you should definitely go to King’s Dominion between July 20th and September 2nd. We also got pictures of our kids in Monster Jam Thunder Alley with trucks like Grave Digger, El Toro Loco and Megalodon.

My kids also stopped by Monster Jam Garage and were able to touch and feel the components of a Monster Truck.  For example, standing next to a 645-pound tire on an axle showed the kids how enormous these vehicles truly are!
