My Life Map Blogher Book Club Review

This month’s Blogher BookClub Book is My Life Map by Kate and David Marshall. This comes at an interesting time in our lives that we really need to figure out what path we want to take for the next 40 years. This is not a book you can sit down and read in a night, it takes some quite and time to really work on the different exercises. My Life Map is a fill-in-the-blank book that makes the reader truly reflect on their past, evaluate the present and think about their desires for the future.

Amazon has this description on their site:
My Life Map helps people at any stage of life create a visual road map of both their past and their future in major life areas such as family, work, play, friends, and education. Charting the past highlights patterns you may not have noticed before. Seeing the years ahead encourages you to set goals and shape a future with intention and purpose.
This interactive self-help journal includes innovative mapping and chapters on Creating Your Maps (warm-up exercises for envisioning your future and tips on how to fill out your maps); Sample Journeys (completed maps of fictitious people at different stages of life); My Life Maps (blank whole-life, ten-year, and subject maps to fill out); Putting Your Maps into Practice (tips and tools for establishing next steps and annual checkups); and Reflections (blank pages to record discoveries, challenges, or promises).

So really who is this book for. Someone who might be in college trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives, a mid lifer who is feeling stuck in their current situation, or someone who is downsized from their company and does not know what to do next. These are just a few examples of how this workbook like book can come in hand. I have not yet finished filling this out and actually my husband has looked at it first.

I look forward to figuring out what I will do now that my kids are in elementary school and see what my true passions and desires will take me. If you want to see what other Blogher Bookclubs are saying about My Life Map check out the BLOGHER’S Discussion Page.

I was provided this book for review purposes as well as a small stipend. All the opinions expressed are my own.
