Snowshoe Mountain is not a secret vacation spot for folks on the East Coast. Winter is the main season for this ski in /ski out resort destination. However, this summer was our family’s first time exploring this four-season resort.
If you have ever been out West in the Summer you know the great outdoor activities available at a ski resort. Snowshoe Mountain shared all these great amenities and more. The entire family felt like they were at summer camp and were provided much-needed relief from scalding summer temperatures.
We stayed in a 5 bedroom condo that was amply stocked for a long weekend. We brought in all of our meals but there are several meal options on the mountain from BBQ to Italian.
Plus a little provisions store on top of the mountain to grab forgotten items. Our condo even had a hot tub on the deck which the kids just loved.
Even though the weather was a bit cloudy and rainy at times it did not stop us from enjoying the many amenities available at Snowshoe Mountain. We were able to ride the ski lift down to Shaver’s Lake, where there are paddleboards, kayaks, an inflatable water obstacle center, and other dryland activities.
The kids had to be pulled away. Our pup also had the time of her life chasing balls and “fish”.
We had the Mountain Adventure Pass which for one price, allowed us the following activities, plus more we never got around to trying, for one low price.
The older kids enjoyed an off-road segway tour that took us into a wonderfully wooded area. This is something I have never done before.
Clay shooting was also a popular activity for our family.

IS THERE A KIDS CAMP AT SNOWSHOE?
If you book through Snowshoe directly, Camp Wild Camp, a kid’s camp for ages 4-15 is free. Yes, you read that correctly. Parents have from 9:30 to 4:30 to enjoy the mountain to themselves. The day my kids were enrolled in camp they were able to take the RZR tours.
The highlight of their visit. They also went to the split rock pools, an indoor-outdoor pool area. Each kid received a T-shirt, water bottle and sling bag to carry the items they need for their full day of adventure.
If you are not exhausted by night, head back to the village and you can test your fear of heights with a small zip line, bungy and climbing a wall. Below are some views of Snowshoe Mountain Village. You can tell the photos are a little cloudy but it did not harbor any of our fun.
Can I get Cell Coverage at Snowshoe?
I thought I would ask the opinions of each family member to prove that this is a great family vacation destination. Unless you have AT&T don’t expect to have cell coverage on the mountain or within a few miles.
However, wifi is available in a lot of the rental properties, just be sure to inquire upon booking. It is a vacation, so take the time to unplug the family from their Pokemon Go addictions.

14 yr old girl
You can never be bored, fun for all ages.
14 yr old boy
A great all year round vacation spot. Fun activities to do all day. The lake was my favorite part.
13 yr old boy
Teenage friendly, great activities to do all the time. Great retreat to get off your phones and get outside.
10 yr. old boy:
A little disappointed I could not do most of the activities my siblings b/c of my age. (RZR and Segway had 13 yr old limits) Wish I had my mountain bike to explore the trails.
This is a Mountain Bikers Dream Land.
Dad:
Fly fishing is only 20 minutes away. The sporting clays are world class and good for both kids and experienced shooters. We went during brews and blues festivities and crowds were manageable.
Wow, what a fun-filled weekend! I had heard of Snowshow Mountain, but didn’t know much about it. I’d be happy just staying at that condo!

What a fun resort to stay at!! I love the when we find places with a full kitchen, we prefer to take our own food as well. I love that they have kid camp, what a great perk to staying there, I know my kids would love this as well!

We have a local resort that turns their slopes into a grass sledding hill in the summer. So much fun!
