I remember when my kids were younger we made homemade Valentines to pass out. It was fun for me but also the kids took pride in their own creations. These non candy Valentine Cards With Melted Mustache Crayons and a Free Printable are super fun. Let’s face it, even with teenagers in the house, I have a ton of broken crayons in old pencil cases.
Mustaches have been popular the past couple of years. A few years back I purchased a three pack of silicon molds and a mustache one was part of the set. If you don’t already have a mustache mold, You can find a mustache silicon mold here.
Valentines Cards With Melted Mustache Crayons
Make the mustache crayons first. If you have never made your own crayons, you are in for a treat and a great way to recycle old crayons. Let the kids decide if you want to make them with only one color, or mix things up by adding several colors. I think kids love this way more.
Place your silicon mold on a cookie sheet and bake at 250 for 15-20 minutes. Some crayon brands seem to take longer to melt so just keep on eye out.
I allowed them to cool slightly on the counter and then since it was cold outside I placed them outside to finish cooling completely. Trust me, they will break if you try to pop them out too soon.
Print the Free Mustache Valentine Printable and cut out the cards.
Attaching the crayon was a little tricky. I found the foam sticker rounds worked well but you had to press the crayon firmly onto the card.
You could also fill a small clear gift bag with the crayons and then attach the card. It depends on how many you plan on making really.
