Every year we adopt a few children from our church that have been identified by our parish as needing some extra love over the holiday season. They also had a coat drive for a local school. I find this to be such a special time for our family to look through the hundreds of cards displayed after church and deciding on the age we want to shop for this year. I am not sure the kids see the impact our church will have on this population but I find it humbling that families will not only have presents under the tree but staples to fill their cabinets.
This year we picked a 6 year old boy to share some extra gifts this holiday season. Unlike previous years, where the kid had asked for things like Xbox or a new bike, this boy was quite modest and asked for clothes. We are thrilled to see that this little boys wishes will be delivered this year, with some extra age appropriate toys we just had to add into the box. I do hope that this little boy and his family with have a wonderful holiday and have food on the table each day in 2015.
Here are my kids wrapping the gifts for our family.
So who do you have a wish for this holiday season?
For every wish submitted on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #WishesDelivered, UPS will donate $1 to one of their charity partners (Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club, or Toys for Tots) up to $100K! Wishes can automatically be submitted to the #WishesDelivered site by simply posting the wish on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #WishesDelivered, or going direct to the #WishesDelivered site and submitting there. It’s encouraged to share your wishes on all social channels in addition to submitting on the #WishesDelivered site. Now that the kids have sent their wish list to Santa, have them think of a wish for someone less fortunate than them. December holidays are all about sharing, so please join in creating holiday cheer by sharing your own heart-felt wish for someone else which will help other less fortunate. IT only takes a few minutes and you can help UPS not only deliver all the packages you ordered but donate 100k to their favorite charities this time of year.
You have until December 31, 2014 to submit your wish on the #WishesDelivered site and have it count!! Check out this video to learn more.
