Sleigh Ride Dinner Lone Mountain Ranch
The sleigh ride dinner is one of the not to miss Winter Activities In Big Sky Montana. While a perk of your stay at Lone Mountain Ranch, anyone visiting Big Sky can take make a reservation for this amazing experience.
Taking a sleigh ride in the snow was truly a magical and authentic western experience. We rode up to a wooden cabin with a large wood stove.
It felt like you taking step back into the Wild West but being fed a gourmet meal and entertained by a cowboy.
Cross Country Skiing In Big Sky, Montana

Visiting Yellowstone in Winter
If you are feeling adventurous there are other activities you can purchase during your stay. My daughter and I schuduled a full day Yellowstone backcountry nordic/ snow shoeing outing. We were assigned Erin, our guide, to explore some of the back country trails of Yellowstone.
This was my daughter’s first time on XC skis but Erin was very patient with us. You will not be visiting the popular areas of Yellowstone, but since we already did the Yellowstone guided tour in the summer it was just a beautiful outing for us.
Even when my daughter got frustrated with the icy conditions, Erin was accommodating and we turned around and found another trail that we decided to snow shoe instead.
Winter Fly Fishing Big Sky Montana
If fly fishing is your forte’ you can still Fly fish Big Sly in the winter. My husband scheduled a half day wade trip with Gallatin River Guides and were super successful. The weather app may say it is 30 degrees but the sunshine and lack of humidity makes it feel like 50. Not to mention you have all the right gear.
If you have not booked a winter trip to Big Sky because not everyone in your party likes to downhill ski, you will not be disappointed if you book at Lone Mountain Ranch. There are so many things to do in Big Sky in the winter.
Whether you are active and want to spend the day out on some of the groomed trails or just want to cozy up to a warm fire in your wood cabin, there is something for everyone.
