This Halloween Cookie Recipe does not in fact involved any real candy corn, only the shape.  Even if you don’t care for the taste of candy corn, you will love these Candy Corn Cookies.

You can start this recipe with your favorite sugar cookie recipe or even the store bought variety.  We prefer the bagged one that you just add butter and an egg vs the refrigerated one.

You will need 2 1/2 cups of prepared cookie dough to make 24 cookies, but if you always adjust the recipe to meet your needs. 

How to Make this Halloween Cookie Recipe

Simply prepare your sugar cookie recipe per the directions and split into three bowls. To make 24 Candy Corn Cookies for Halloween make two bowls of 1 cup and 1 bowl of 1/2 cup of dough

Best Food Coloring for Sugar Cookies

Gel Food Coloring works best to achieve a bright color for your cookie.  Liquid food coloring works as well but you will have to use more and it may water down the dough slightly.

Color one of the 1 cup bowls with Orange food gel and one with yellow food Gel.  Leave the 1/2 cup of dough white.

Roll the three bowls of batter into 9 inch logs.

Then layer them together, being sure to wet the orange and yellow logs with a little water. 

Wrap the layered cookie dough in Parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. 

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Press the sugar cookie dough into a triangle shape.

Then slice into 1/2 inch pieces.  Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, or one lined with parchment paper.
