None of my children play football on a team, but you can almost always find a game on TV during the fall and winter. Whether it is college or professional level, they seem to find an excuse to grab a friend and some food to enjoy some football.

Since there is one game of the year we do typically host or attend a football party, I thought I would make some football decor to extend our theme. This is a no-sew football field runner that takes about 30 minutes to make and really takes no crafting skills.

  • Green Felt by the Yard
  • 5/8″ gross grain ribbon

  • 2 Pieces Adhesive Brown Felt

How to Make a Football Field Table Runner

  1. To make this no-sew football field runner you will need to first measure your table and buy a piece of green felt that is the length of your table plus about 1 foot if you want some of the runner to hang off the table.

You will need the white ribbon to make the field lines. I used 5/8″ gross grain ribbon.

To adhere ribbon to the felt runner, you will need Fabric glue. Make sure it is something strong.

My 10-year-old measured 8-inch spaces between the 10-yard lines and we placed a shorter piece every 4 inches. You may want to burn the edges of the ribbon to avoid any fraying.

How to make applique footballs for table runner

To make the footballs, I found adhesive felt pieces and had some rick rack for the strings.

Once you decorate your football, simply peel off the adhesive backing and place on both ends of your runner. Touchdown!

Since football is on 3 days a week, I refuse to prepare food from scratch every time. When Cooking is not an option we are going to Sam’s Club and pick up Sam’s Club Cafe Pizza and Coca-Cola Bundle. A great start to any football viewing event.

You don’t even have to shop at Sam’s Club, this combo deal can be picked up in the front of the store at it’s Cafe. We might pick up a  salad or some cut veggies as Sam’s Club has so many great pick up and go options.

It took about 12 minutes to get the combo at my store. If you wish to have something besides pepperoni or cheese you need to call in first. They also bake everything right there so go right before the party.

Come home and just grab some serving dishes if you feel the need and your football party is ready to start.

  1. Too much fun! We like to watch the Grey Cup but normally we don’t watch football unless we go to a game. This is such a neat idea and would be perfect for the Grey Cup party!
