4th of July Desserts are the easiest to create in my opinion. Just about everyone loves a little Rice Krispie treats so why not make it festive with layered colors and add a stick. For some reason, it’s always more fun to eat something off a stick.
I am sure there are ways to make natural dyes but we were all in on this and used regular food dyes to tint our marshmallow mixture. India Tree also offers some natural food dye that is great if you have dye allergies.
There is not much explanation to this recipe just a method. I made a small pan and made 1 1/2 recipes of Rice Krispies. I simply use the recipe on the back of the cereal box. It all depends on how many pops you want to make how much you will make.
To make this a real 4th of July desserts option, you have to layer in the classic red, white, and blue colors. Make your first color and layer in a pan. Leave the middle layer the natural color. Then top with the last color. I used red on the bottom, natural in the middle, and blue on top.
All them to cool and set completely before cutting into squares. I used candy sticks, or you can use wooden skewers or even paper straws.
Cut into squares and stick a popsicle stick into each one. Fun, easy and festive.
4th of July Ice Cream Sandwiches
Another super easy semi-homemade 4th of July desserts idea is to take basic ice cream sandwiches and give them a fun twist. All you have to do is grab your favorite brand of ice cream sandwiches and some fun sprinkles. Patriotic sprinkles are fun, or you can do some with blue, some with red, and even some with silver!
Simply unwrap ice cream sandwiches and dip in sprinkles that you poured into a large shallow bowl.
Then to keep these solid for serving, you just add your 4th of July desserts back into the freezer until ready to serve.
Have fun mixing and matching sprinkles, or even using crushed candies or cookies to add to your favorite ice cream sandwiches. I love that you can now buy these in mini sizes, as well as some great flavors like mint, Neopolitan, salted caramel, and even peanut butter!
